EDUCATION

the end is the future is now (2022) at Carnegie Mellon University
  • Served as Assistant Dramaturg and Co-Adapter on a new work including three short stories by Octavia Butler and Alexis Pauline-Gumbs
  • Collaborated with Nicole Brewer and Mei Ann Teo in script analysis and workshopping
  • Tracked changes in the devising process

PLAYWRITING

Proximity (2021)
  • Wrote a 15 minute play about Clara Rockmore, the first master of the newly-invented theremin, facing moments in her past before giving one of the most important concerts of her life
  • Assembled a creative team of ten people to create the set, sound, and costumes
  • Received a Microgrant from the Frank-Ratchye STUDIO for Creative Inquiry
  • Self produced the play in collaboration with Carnegie Mellon University's School of Music in Kresge Hall
  • Selected to read an excerpt in City Theatre's Playwright's Slam as part of their 2022 Momentum Festival

Natural Law (2019)
  • Wrote, in conversation with a fellow CMU student, a one act play comprised of found language from the Brett Kavanaugh and Clarence Thomas hearings
  • Assembled and collaborated with a creative team of 13 people
  • Produced the show in the School of Drama’s annual play festival

  • Wrote a radio play, which was produced by dtc radio, an offshoot of Distilled Theatre Company, and published on the Podcast app 
  • Appeared in an article, “Kids Give ‘Em Hell About High Water” by Nexus Media, which was picked up by PBS, ThinkProgress, and The Years Project

Possession: Night at the Museum for Brown People (2022)
at Carnegie Mellon University
  • Served as Director from pitching to performance
  • Led the process of devising: research, idea generation, character development, outlining, writing, and staging
  • Advised lighting, sound, scenic, and media designers creating alongside actors
  • Facilitated a decolonial space that prioritized ancestral and lived experience, focused on actor embodiment above text-based knowledge

Clue (2022) with Scotch'n'Soda Theatre at Carnegie Mellon University
  • Served as Co-Dramaturg from casting to performance
  • Facilitated conversations about harm reduction, access needs, and racial consciousness
  • Mediated communication between actors, directors, and the SnS Board
  • Developed the "Dear Dramaturg," form to support dramaturgical inquiry, transparency, and accountability
  • Collaborated to write a program note about the history and prior adaptations of Clue

RENT (2022) with Scotch'n'Soda Theatre at Carnegie Mellon University
  • Served as Dramaturg from proposal to performance
  • Provided research materials to the cast and production team
  • Mentored two Assistant Dramaturgs in their creation of research materials about the AIDS crisis, ACT UP, drag performance, and other LGBTQ+ topics of the time period
  • Facilitated conversations about harm reduction, script biases, access needs, queer inclusivity, and racial consciousness
  • Developed the "Dear Dramaturg," form to support dramaturgical inquiry, transparency, and accountability
  • Presented an introduction to dramaturgy for the cast and production staff, including preliminary research as well as best practices to utilize the dramaturgs
  • Wrote a program note about the development of RENT and our production's unique approach to the material

Earth Matters on Stage New Play Festival (2021)
  • Read five full-length new play submissions
  • Recommended whether or not the plays should move forward from the first round
Klezmer Cabaret (2021) with Scotch'n'Soda at Carnegie Mellon University 
*postponed due to COVID-19
  • Served as Dramaturg from proposal to performance
  • Created a setlist of Klezmer songs in collaboration with Music Directors
  • Wrote comedic monologues for the cabaret's Emcee character
  • Wrote a program note about the history and importance of Klezmer music with the Director
  • Researched and relayed Yiddish translations and pronunciation
